Fill the Strand Success! —Thank you!

We weren't sure what to expect given the event took place in the middle of what we know to be busy summer days. With that said—we were blown away by the show of support from you and nearly 100 other people that day, and in the days that followed the event. 

We collected:

485 pounds of school supplies
300 pounds of snacks and food
more than $12,000 in funds

Thanks to your help, we use some of the funds to buy up to even amounts of items and on 8/7 and 8/8 we were able to distribute backpacks and school supplies and snacks to more than 135 children! We are happy to be sending kids back to school with the supplies they need to start their year off right. 

We are grateful to the amazing team at the Strand Theatre who continue to be wonderful community partners. We are grateful to our Marquee Sponsor,  Maine State Credit Union, whose volunteers on the day of the event were a tremendous help and made the day fun.

This event is a part of our summer appeal to raise support for our children-focused programs. Thanks to a matching gift from the Estate of Carole Brand everything we raised for this event will be matched—bringing us closer to our goal of raising $50,000 by the end of August.
