Vision.

This mural is part of a community partnership to celebrate 13 amazing women of vision who are receiving the Farnsworth’s Maine in America award this year. These women were selected for their contributions to art and society. AIO is proud to partner with the Farnsworth Art Museum to bring to the public this beautiful mural, inspired by our Women of Vision, and designed by local artist Alexis Iammarino.

Joy.

This collaboration is a shining example of organizations coming together to address root issues. It’s about recognizing that people in our community are not defined as either food pantry patrons or art museum patrons, but rather as members of a unique community that understands the importance of joy and substance in every life. Bringing the Women of Vision art exhibit and discussion into our food pantry, and likewise bringing the discussion of a fair and equitable community into the Farnsworth Art Museum makes for unexpected and profound connections.

Creativity.

The mural, inspired six Farnsworth Women of Vision visual artists, was designed by community artist Alexis Iammarino, and completed through the talents of Iammarino and a small team of volunteers including three student artist assistants from Oceanside High School: Vandeslaine Nascimento-Barcellos, Fiona Charlson and Alexa Zell. Our mural project is a powerful example of a united approach to addressing community challenges can be beautiful in the most creative ways.
